Short Stories: Moments with God

A Missional Community

It’s like feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin after a long winter. It’s unusually pleasant, but still familiar.

There are a lot of things in our missional community. Unity. Disagreements. Respect. Discipleship. Growth. Whatever conversations carry. However communities form. Wherever God leads.

I am amazed at how good God is and grateful for new beginnings. Leaving my church without knowing what the next step would be was daunting, but I now see that it was necessary. I followed as He led me to different corners of His Body.

I have no regrets, only silly apprehensions about moving forward.

It’s like feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin after a long winter, only to open your eyes and realize that you are standing at the edge of a cliff. Praise the Lord, your prayers have been answered. Now there is no going back, nowhere to hide, and much to learn.

Among other things, I’m learning to be courageous, vulnerable, hospitable and accountable. Yes, it’s OK to let people in or to ask for help when you need it. No, it won’t kill you to try something new (except camping… why is this even an option in life?). Yes, you will fall. Just get back up, that’s how you learn to walk. No, you don’t have to understand or agree with everything. Just take it one day at a time.

Who knew that free falling would be heart-warming? It’s like feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin after a long winter.

Looking forward to hearing a 15-or 20-second snippet of your music.
